Tropical Storm Ivette becomes ninth Pacific storm of the season

The center of Tropical Storm Ivette was located near latitude 14.2 North, longitude 119.2 West. Ivette is moving toward the west-northwest near 20 mph (31 km/h). A west-northwestward to westward motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected over the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Ivette could become a hurricane by Thursday night.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center.
